Considered one of the fastest growing sports, Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong using a paddle and plastic ball with holes.
The game is popular because it is fast paced, more social because it is played on a smaller court, so communication is easier, and there is less strain on the body. It is suitable for all ages but in particular for older adults who may have more physical limitations. Pickleball is rapidly growing in popularity in Australia. We recently formed the OceanGrove Pickleball Club and meet at the badminton courts,
Memorial Hall in the Avenue, Ocean Grove. We are growing fast at present , a good mix of males and females. Teams of doubles are formed on the day and
groups of four play on three courts, with individuals rotating in and out of the game. The game is played to 11 points and points are only won on service.
